D23 Brings Ahsoka, Starfighter and Lego Mandalorian Info, Trailers

D23 Expo (D for Disney, 1923 for its founding) is currently being held in Anaheim, California. As part of that Disney held its more or less keynote address where it spoke about its upcoming plans across its slate of movies and TV including Star Wars.

Star Wars: Ahsoka season two has an official release date of January 20, 2027 with trailer released (below). The story will continue Ahsoka hunt for Thrawn while training her Jedi apprentice Sabine Wren with other characters from Star Wars: Rebels.

Star Wars: Starfighter footage was shown to attendees but not released to the public. As part of that it was revealed that Ryan Gosling's character's name is Kade Auberon. The movie is set five years after Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker, the very last film of the Skywalker Saga. A description of the footage is here. The movie is set for release on May 28, 2027.

Star Wars: The Mandalorian and Grogu is set for Disney+ release on September 2. With it comes a Lego Star Wars: The Mandalorian on the same day that seeks to celebrates all three seasons of the show. Trailer below.

That covers Star Wars. There was also Disney news from D23. A new Avengers: Doomsday special look is out as tickets go on sale starting today. The cast of the MCU's X-Men film was introduced with Sadie Sink (Jean Grey), Kit Conner (Cyclops), Christopher Abbot (Professor Charles Xavier), Samara Weaving (Emma Frost), Inde Navarrette (Rogue), Maya Boyd (Storm), and Adam Driver as Nathaniel Milbury/Mr. Sinister. The film is set for a May 5, 2028 release. 

The first official VisionQuest trailer was also released for the TV series that will premiere on October 14 and will conclude the trilogy of Wanda TV shows with WandaVision and Agatha All Along shows. Rumors are circulating that this and Daredevil Season 3 may be the last TV shows from MCU for awhile as Disney tries to make superhero live action a more rare experience in effort to boost the theatrical box office, something that WB is looking to also emulate.

On the animated movie front, Coco II is coming for a November 2929 release, Pixar movie Ghost Market for 2028, and Gatto for 2027 teased. Incredibles 3 is being worked on and set just a few weeks after the sequel for a June 18, 2028 release. Zootopia 3 was announced but no release date set with the cast returning along with Frozen 3 for November 2027. Somewhat related, the live action Tangled is set for March 21, 2028 release and a live action Lio & Stitch II is coming on May 26, 2028.

Last but not least for video game fans is announcement of a Kingdom Hearts anime TV series. The show "reimagines the iconic adventure with a brand-new story that will expand on the universe of ‘Kingdom Hearts". The story for the games is an absolute mess so hopefully the anime will be more coherent.
