LucasFilm Taps Director for Next Star Wars Trilogy

Lucasfilm has found a director for the first film of their next Star Wars trilogy. The Hollywood Reporter says that Jon Watts (first three Spider-Man "Home" films, Star Wars: Skeleton Crew) has been chosen to direct the first film. The trilogy is the same that Simon Kinberg (most of the X-Men and Wolverine films) was chosen to write in November 2024.

This new trilogy is set at some point after the Skywalker Saga (Episodes I-IX) so it would technically be Episode X. The site is also reporting Daisy Ridley would reprise her role of Rey but how much would feature in the film is unknown. Lucasfilm has not officially confirmed this information.

The next film from Lucasfilm Ryan Gosling starring Star Wars: Starfighter which will hit theaters on May 27, 2027 for the 50th anniversary of Star Wars.
