Star Wars: Eclipse Reveal Trailer for New Video Game

A new video game is in the works for the Star Wars Universe. The video game is "Set during the High Republic era, Star Wars Eclipse is an intricately branching action-adventure game that can be experienced in many ways, and puts the destinies of multiple playable characters in your hands, created in collaboration between Quantic Dream and Lucasfilm Games."

No release date or other details.   The High Republic era is around a 200 year period that ends with the death of the Jedi Order and rise of the Empire in Star Wars: Episode III - Revenge of the Sith. All the Clone Wars series and few other things covered the end of the Jedi Order so a guess is this is set before the Episode I by a few decades.

Lead Hired for Star Wars: The Acolyte Series

Deadline is reporting that Amandla Stenberg (Dear Evan Hansen) has been cast in unnamed leader role for Star Wars: The Acolyte series for Disney+. Little is known about this series except that it takes place in the "final days of the High Republic era" of the Star Wars Universe. This is a new era of the Star Wars Universe that was introduced after JJ Abrams scrapped the Extended Universe and has mostly been explored in comics and books in the last few years.

In the Star Wars time line, just know that the High Republic is period that began 200 before and ended with Order 66 that killed most of the Jedi in the universe and the emergence of the Galactic Empire. This suggests the new TV series will either take place shortly before or during the first 3 episodes of the Star Wars movies. The name of the series is just neutral enough that it could have been about someone being groomed to be a Jedi or Sith. However, considering this is the first black person to lead a Star Wars anything, there is no chance of it being a villainous role. Guess time will tell exactly on when and what the series is about as it reaches production sometime in 2022, likely for a 2023 release date.

Star Wars TV Shows Filming Update, Virtual Production Video

It looks like the wait for The Mandalorian Season 3 will be a longer one as the series is not expected to start filming until late into the year. The reason why is due to special "Virtual Production" stage built specifically for filming Star Wars television shows and pioneered by The Mandalorian Season 2. Video below gets into the details of the stage.

So with one virtual stage to film on and three Star Wars shows in the works, that means coordinating when what can film when.  As of right now, The Book of Boba Fett has wrapped with goal of a December release date.  Next to use the space will be Obi-Wan Kenobi TV series that will likely take 3 or so months to film.  Once that completes work, that will allow The Mandalorian to take over and begin filming.  The order of the television filming slate was likely also impacted by Padro Pascal's schedule as he is spending the summer filming "The Last of Us" for HBO.

The video below is worth checking out as likely more and more television shows and movies will use the technology once more virtual stages are built using it.

Disney+ as revealed the first trailer for Star Wars: The Bad Batch. The series will premiere on May 4 with a 70 minute episode with each new episode appearing on the service each Friday starting on May 7. I do believe the show is set after Star Wars: The Clone Wars but to early to know if it will continue any story or character lines from that show. The show description:
“Star Wars: The Bad Batch” follows the elite and experimental clones of the Bad Batch (first introduced in “The Clone Wars”) as they find their way in a rapidly changing galaxy in the immediate aftermath of the Clone War. Members of Bad Batch—a unique squad of clones who vary genetically from their brothers in the Clone Army—each possess a singular exceptional skill that makes them extraordinarily effective soldiers and a formidable crew.

Obi-Wan Kenobi Announces Cast, April Filming Start

Disney has revealed the core cast and production start date for Obi-Wan Kenobi TV series. Filming will begin in April for an unknown release date but safe to assume it will be early 2022. The key bit of casting news is the return of Joel Edgerton and Bonnie Piesse who played young Uncle Owen and Aunt Beru back in 2005 with Revenge of the Sith when Obi-Wan (returning Ewan McGregor) dropped off just born Luke. Details on the series story has not been revealed but with Hayden Christensen also signed on, one assumes to reprise the role of Darth Vader, it suggests that it will tell focus on some point where Obi-Wan had to prevent the Empire from discovering Luke's existence.

Besides those four, Deadline reports additional announced castmembers have been announced. No details on their roles or extent of their roles have been provided. They are Moses Ingram (The Queen's Gambit), Kumail Nanjiani (Silicon Valley), Indira Varma (Game of Thrones), Rupert Friend (Homeland), O'Shea Jackson Jr (Straight Outta Compton), Sung Kang (Fast & Furious movies), Simone Kessell (Reckoning), Benny Safdie (Pieces of a Woman).
